Parent Coordination

In the state of New Jersey, a parenting coordinator serves as an impartial intermediary selected either by judicial appointment or mutual consent during a divorce to aid in the management of routine child-rearing disputes. While recommendations proposed by a parenting coordinator may not have legal authority in every case, there are circumstances where a court might require adherence to the parent coordinator’s guidance.

As a parenting coordinator, Sheri Tully of Calm The Chaos aids in guiding divorced individuals towards consensus and is authorized to propose solutions when there is difficulty in upholding the stipulations of a parenting plan. Sheri holds a Master of Social Work, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and is a practicing mental health therapist with Sharing Temple Counseling in Bordentown, NJ. Sheri provides education about co-parenting and the psychological needs of children, helping parents understand the impact of their actions on their child's well-being.

The purpose of the parenting coordinator is to facilitate resolving day-to-day parenting issues, assist in decision-making, and to make recommendations when parents can't enforce their parenting time agreement.

A parent coordinator is particularly helpful in cases of parental alienation by acting as a neutral third party focused on the interests of the child. The goal of the parent coordinator is to reduce conflict and improve communication between parents, which is essential in cases where one parent may be attempting to alienate the child from the other parent.
